Keeping it simple

Nowadays usability and high-quality content are key to encouraging potential clients to stick around on your website. Hang on, but what about design? Vital, however, if you don’t have the other two in place you are seriously handicapping your business’ online efforts.

What your customers really want

Think about your own online habits. You are looking for something interesting and/or informative. You will probably glance at a page, skim read some text and then click on a link that grabs your attention. If it doesn’t you will go back and look again.

Great content wins every time

Even I as a designer will continue looking at a website if it has what I need, even if it’s not terribly well designed – always remember, content is king.

Make sure that your written content follows these simple guidelines: come to the point quickly, break up text with lots of headings and graphic elements, and use clear and jargon-free language.

No time to waste

Visitors want to get around a website quickly so intuitive navigation is vital. Don’t make them work too hard finding the information they want, or they’ll go elsewhere.

Hunches and who’s in charge?

Prospects will interact with your website by trying things out – they won’t read instructions telling them how best to use your website. It doesn’t matter to them if they don’t understand how it works, as long as it works! Don’t make users engage too many brain cells.

It may be your business and website but the customer is king or queen. They need to be in control of their experience – avoid pop-ups and links that open up in new browser windows.

Inside the mind of your website visitor

Think about what you need from a website and you will have a good idea of how to make your website user-friendly and nice & sticky. The longer someone stays on your website the more likely they are to choose your product or service.

If you would like help with making your website super user-friendly call or email us and let’s work together to bring you more prospects that turn into paying customers.

Pretty doesn’t guarantee profits – a brand that communicates with your best customers 24/7 does.
